Election Commission Sets Deadline for Postal Ballot Applications for Sibi Bye-Election

Islamabad: The Election Commission has announced October 28, 2024, as the final date for receiving applications for postal ballots for the upcoming Bye-Election in PB-08, Sibi. This provision is aimed at facilitating voters who are unable to attend their designated polling stations due to various legitimate reasons.

According to Press Information Department, the postal ballot option is available to government employees, armed forces members, their spouses, and eligible children, provided they are stationed away from their voting constituencies. Additionally, voters with significant physical disabilities who possess a National Identity Card indicating such, issued by NADRA, and those detained or in custody are also eligible to vote via postal ballot. Election duty workers, including police personnel who are assigned to polling stations other than their own, must apply within three days of their appointment.

Applications for the postal ballot are to be submitted on the prescribed form available from Assistant Commissioner Mansoor Ali Shah in Sibi or downloadable from the Election Commission’s official website. It is crucial that applications are properly endorsed by the applicant’s department to prevent unauthorized requests. Voters who opt for postal ballots will not be permitted to vote in person at the polls.
