Farooq Abdullah Criticizes BJP’s Claims on Article 370 Impact in Kashmir

Srinagar: Farooq Abdullah, president of the National Conference (NC), has strongly refuted claims that the abrogation of Article 370 has quelled armed resistance in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Instead, he asserts, it has intensified it.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a speech in Srinagar, Abdullah responded to the BJP’s narrative that the NC-Congress alliance would regress IIOJK to darker times. He challenged the effectiveness of the abrogation, pointing out that rather than diminishing conflict, militant activities have surged since the removal of the article, which he blames on the BJP’s policies.

Abdullah also criticized the BJP’s election manifesto for IIOJK as mere rhetoric, accusing the party of fostering fear among the populace. He highlighted the significant contributions of Muslims to India’s independence and criticized the BJP’s vision for India as divisive.
