Federal Committee to Probe KP Government’s Resource Misuse During PTI Protest

Islamabad: In response to allegations of misused public resources during the recent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Islamabad, the Federal Government has established a committee to conduct a thorough investigation. The inquiry will focus on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government’s deployment of government vehicles and personnel in support of the protest.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the investigation committee will be led by Riffat Mukhtar, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, alongside Munir Masood Marath, Additional Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and a senior representative from the Intelligence Bureau. The committee’s mandate is to detail the extent and specifics of governmental resources utilized during the PTI’s protest, including the number and type of government vehicles and the involvement of public officials.

The committee is tasked with uncovering who within the KP government authorized the use of these resources for the rally. Additionally, it will identify government servants who played a role in the mobilization and coordination of these resources for the politically charged event. The inquiry aims to hold accountable those responsible for any misuse of government assets.

The findings of the committee are expected to be delivered within seven days, shedding light on the mechanisms of resource allocation during the protest and ensuring accountability for any infractions.
