Federal Government Launches ‘Uraan Pakistan’ Initiative for National Development

Karachi: The federal government has introduced a new initiative, ‘Uraan Pakistan,’ aimed at promoting national development, as announced by Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal. During a media briefing in Karachi, Iqbal emphasized the government’s commitment to collaborate on the country’s development through this program.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the minister assured that the federal government would address issues raised by the Sindh government. The announcement followed a meeting where the Planning Minister assessed the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) projects alongside Sindh’s Provincial Minister for Planning and Development, Nasir Shah, and other officials.

The meeting also reviewed the current progress and challenges of the Sindh People’s Housing Project for flood affectees. Iqbal underscored the ‘Uraan Pakistan’ initiative’s focus on learning from past mistakes and prioritizing future growth, particularly through export-led development.

Each province, Iqbal noted, should establish an export development board to enhance export quality and overall management. He highlighted the necessity for widespread technology adoption and emphasized reducing energy losses to a minimum. The discussion also covered vital water management projects aimed at alleviating water shortages, along with development and infrastructure strategies for Karachi, which he believes will play a crucial role in shaping Pakistan’s future.
