Islamabad: A meeting of the Pakistan Sugar Manufacturers Association (PSMA) took place under the leadership of Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, focusing on critical decisions regarding sugar pricing and distribution across the nation.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the Minister reiterated the government’s dedication to making sugar accessible at affordable prices. A micro-plan for sugar distribution is set to be introduced in every district this week. Special measures are also planned to provide sugar at discounted rates during the holy month of Ramadan, with stalls offering sugar in ample quantities from three days before Ramadan until the 27th of the month.
Rana Tanveer Hussain announced that the discounted sugar prices would be revealed later this week, aiming to provide affordable sugar to lower-income groups during Ramadan. The cooperation of provincial governments will be crucial in establishing sugar stalls nationwide to guarantee easy access across all regions.
The Minister highlighted that Ramadan is a time of worship, and the government’s objective is to ensure essential commodities are available at reasonable prices, particularly for the less privileged. He assured the public that strict monitoring of sugar prices would be implemented to prevent any issues during the holy month.
