Field Marshal Emerges as Central Peace Mediator in US-Iran Conflict

Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has emerged as a central peace mediator in the US-Iran conflict.

According to Radio Pakistan, Syed Asim Munir travelled to Tehran, met the Iranian leadership, and led last-ditch efforts to revive stalled negotiations between the United States and Iran.

The Guardian reported that Pakistan emerged as an unexpected diplomatic bridge, where Asim Munir helped build trust between the two leaderships through direct contacts, phone calls, and mediation.

It said oversight of negotiations from Asim Munir’s role as a third party and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s diplomatic visit to Saudi Arabia reflects Pakistan’s coordinated strategy.
