Fight for IIOJK Statehood Intensifies, Says Congress Leader

Srinagar: President of the Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Tariq Hameed Karra, has declared that the Congress party will sustain its campaign for the full restoration of Statehood along with constitutional assurances for the region.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Karra expressed these views during a review meeting with party officials in Srinagar. He underscored that the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) remains committed to advocating for the rights of the people in IIOJK. He affirmed that the Congress party will persist in its efforts until India honors its prior promise to reinstate the region’s Statehood.

Karra also critiqued the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), arguing that they have resulted in significant challenges for IIOJK across multiple sectors. He contended that the territory has faced economic, political, and social difficulties under the current administration. The Congress party, he noted, will continue to spotlight these issues and advocate for the return of the territory’s constitutional status.
