Film industry, cinema structure need to be revamped: Khurram Dastgir

Islamabad, January 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): Organizing the film Industry on modern lines and revamping of Cinema Structure in Pakistan is need of the hour said Minister of State for Commerce and Textile Industry, Engr Khurram Dastgir Khan, while meeting a delegation of Film industry comprising Cinema owners, distributors, exhibitors and importers.

Eng. Khurram Dastgir said that revival of film industry will not only yield economic dividends but also help in creating a softer image of Pakistan. He said that the Pakistani public is starved of quality, family entertainment and it is hoped that the industry will resurge with production of new films during this year.

The Minister said that its time to introduce latest technology and encourage creative talent which is capable of producing quality work including good clean scripts and true professional attitude to attract general public. He stressed that the Pakistani film industry must project Pakistan’s culture depicting our true values and traditions.

The delegation informed the Minister about their issues related to the import of films. The Minister assured Government’s cooperation and reiterated that present democratic government will make every effort to create conducive environment for film industry to flourish.

Justice ® Muhammad Raza Khan , Special Secretary Law, Justice and Human Rights, Dr. Nazir Saeed, Secretary Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, Fazal Abbas Maken, Additional Secretary Commerce and representatives of Censor Board of Pakistan were also present in the meeting.
