Finance Minister Eyes Panda Bonds Issuance in 2025

Islamabad: Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb has expressed the hope that Pakistan can issue yuan-denominated “panda bonds” this year to further integrate its capital markets with China’s.

According to Radio Pakistan, in an interview with China Daily, Aurangzeb mentioned that Pakistan could learn from China’s experience to enhance financial inclusion through digital solutions. He emphasized the strong relationship between Pakistan and China, referring to them as ironclad friends and strategic partners. The Minister expressed gratitude for China’s steadfast support over the years.

Aurangzeb highlighted the broader bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly in agriculture, drone technology, and other key sectors, including financial technology. He pointed out that such collaborations are pivotal for the economic growth and technological advancement of Pakistan.

Moreover, the Minister acknowledged China’s significant role in driving global growth, alongside its own economic expansion. He praised China’s unwavering commitment to openness and multilateralism, which he believes is crucial for the development of both nations.
