Islamabad:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared financial support, free education for children, and housing for the families of three Pakistanis who died during a rescue operation off the coast of Somalia.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister conveyed these commitments during a phone call with Azhan Kashif, the son of Syed Kashif Omar, one of the deceased. He promised that the government would not abandon the grieving families and would extend all necessary assistance during this difficult period.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deepest condolences and assured the families that the government shares their sorrow. He prayed for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families. He also assured that efforts are underway to repatriate the bodies of the deceased to Pakistan swiftly.
Instructions were given to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to maintain direct communication with the families of the three deceased Pakistanis. Kashif Umar was one of those who lost their lives in the incident involving a hijacked ship off the Somali coast.
The Prime Minister announced financial assistance of 12.5 million rupees for each family and committed to providing free education and healthcare for their children. Additionally, each affected family will receive a house.
Furthermore, Sharif directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Pakistan Embassy to expedite the repatriation process in cooperation with Somali authorities and other parties involved. He emphasized ensuring medical care for injured Pakistanis and taking measures to secure the safe return of the remaining Pakistani citizens involved.
