First Group of Palestinian Medical Students from Gaza Heads to Pakistan for Studies

Lahore: A group of twenty-seven Palestinian medical students from Gaza embarked on their journey to Pakistan today, where they will continue their medical and dental education at various institutes across the country. This initiative is part of a broader effort by Pakistan to support educational development in war-torn regions.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the departure from Cairo International Airport was facilitated by officials from the Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo and representatives from the Al-Khidmat Foundation. This batch of students represents the first of a total of one hundred ninety-two Palestinian medical students scheduled to study in Pakistan under fully funded programs.

The move follows directives from Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to supporting international students, particularly from conflict-affected areas like Gaza. The students will receive scholarships to continue their studies in Pakistani medical universities, an opportunity aimed at fostering their academic growth and contributing to the healthcare sectors of their home country upon their return.
