First Snowfall Marks the Season in Jammu and Kashmir’s High Altitudes

Srinagar: The onset of winter was heralded in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday with the first snowfall of the season, gracing the high-altitude areas including the renowned ski resort of Gulmarg. This seasonal shift brings a scenic transformation to the region, especially appreciated by winter sports enthusiasts and tourists.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Gulmarg saw accumulations of two to three inches of snow, setting the stage for the upcoming winter activities in the area. Additionally, the Razdan Pass, located in north Kashmir, also experienced a lighter snowfall, adding to the wintry landscapes that characterize this region during this time of the year.

An independent weather forecaster provided insights into the short-term climatic expectations, predicting mostly dry weather across the territory for the next ten days. Although the weather on October 7 and 8 is expected to remain predominantly dry, there might be light rain in some places, adding a slight variability to the otherwise tranquil weather pattern set to dominate the region.
