Five Dead, Two Injured in Kargil Road Accident

Kargil: Five people were killed and two others critically injured in a road accident in the Kargil district of Ladakh region in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred when a passenger vehicle traveling from Kargil to Drass collided with a dumper near the Shilikchay Traffic Control Point. The collision’s impact caused both vehicles to fall into a deep gorge, resulting in the tragic loss of lives.

The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Hassan, son of Muhammad Hussain of Stakpa; Liyaqat Ali, son of AK Raza of Choskore; and Muhammad Ibrahim, son of Haji Muhammad of Budgam. The identities of two other victims, presumed to be non-locals, are yet to be confirmed.

Local residents responded quickly, aiding in the rescue operations and transporting the injured to a nearby hospital. The condition of the injured victims is reported to be critical. Officials have stated that a rescue operation is still underway, and further information is expected soon.
