Former MP Maulana Badruddin Criticizes Police Actions in Assam

New Delhi: Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, a former Member of Parliament and current State President of Jamiat Ulema Hind in Assam, has publicly condemned the recent police killing of two Muslim youths during a protest in Kamrup district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Maulana Badruddin stated that the victims were part of a group protesting the government’s demolition of their homes. He reported that police responded to the peaceful protests with gunfire, resulting in the deaths of the young men. Additionally, when a delegation including a party assembly member attempted to visit the bereaved families, they were reportedly barred by police and treated with disrespect.

Maulana Badruddin expressed further dismay over the state’s response, noting that the Chief Minister has threatened those affected rather than disciplining the officers involved. He vowed to continue advocating against such governmental actions, from public demonstrations to legislative and judicial avenues.

The incident has sparked significant concern over the use of force by police against protestors, highlighting ongoing tensions in Assam regarding land and housing rights.
