Full court meeting of Supreme Court held

Islamabad, November 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): A Full Court meeting was held today (04-11-2013) in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and was attended by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Muhammad Ather Saeed, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rahman. Dr. Faqir Hussain, Registrar, Supreme Court of Pakistan also attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan welcomed the Hon’ble Judges participating in the Full Court meeting. Hon’ble Chief Justice said that the purpose of the meeting is to take stock of the performance of the Supreme Court in terms of dispensation of justice and disposal of cases for redressal of grievances of the litigants.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan also appreciated the efforts of Mr. Justice Saqib Nisar for organizing one day workshop on “Prisoners Vulnerability-Lacking Awareness” in a successful manner and appreciated the same.

The issue of construction/renovation of Circuit House, Quetta for housing Supreme Court Branch Registry came under discussion. It was informed that since the Supreme Court Branch Registry at Quetta is working in a borrowed wing of Balochistan High Court, necessity arose for establishing an independent building for the Supreme Court Branch Registry at Quetta to facilitate the people of Balochistan to have easy access to justice as Supreme Court Judges frequently visit Quetta to conduct hearing and decide cases pending in Quetta Branch Registry. Mr. Nayyar Ali Dada,a renowned architect, gave presentation to the Full Court with the help of rough sketches of the proposed building.

The Full Court discussed the institution and disposal of cases during the period from 13-04-2013 to 01-11-2013 at the Principal seat and its Branch Registries and expressed its satisfaction.
