Gemalto brings the Smart City vision to life at Gitex 2014

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Oct. 8, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE / Knowledgebylanes) — Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, is bringing the Smart City vision to life for visitors to Gitex 2014. In line with the announcement from Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to turn Dubai into a smart city, the Gemalto booth will illustrate how this compelling vision is now ready to be deployed and how the company’s digital solutions can harness the potential of a highly connected world to deliver greater privacy, convenience and security.

The Gemalto stand, located in the Software Hall, will encourage visitors to step into the shoes of Smart City residents and visitors will be able to embark on a digital journey through innovative use cases: Smart Travel, Smart NFC Payment Retail Experience & Contactless Ticketing, Smart Cars, Smart Entreprise, Smart Events & Crowd Management, Smart Mobile Identity & Governance, Smart Recycling. As an example, the Smart Travel experience simplifies visa application processes with residents receiving their eVisa on their smart phone app and transferring it to their ePassport through a simple tap of their NFC phone.

The company supplies citizens and residents’ eID cards in all Gulf Council Countries and works with major banks and mobile operators in the region. Gemalto will also serve as the Strategic Sponsor for the Digital Strategies Forum on October 15th, and will present a keynote talk on how brands and mobile operators can best leverage the mobile phone to run efficient mobile marketing campaigns and create lasting engagement with consumers.
