Gerry’s International Fails to Meet Pre-Qualification for PIA Privatization

Islamabad: Recent social media claims about Dnata (Emirates) being excluded from the privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have been clarified. The Privatisation Commission has confirmed that Dnata did not submit an expression of interest for the privatization of PIA.

According to Privatisation Commission, Gerry’s International was the sole applicant for the privatization opportunity, responding to an internationally published Expression of Interest. The application included a list of its 10 subsidiaries, among them Gerry’s Dnata, to fulfill the financial threshold required for the bidding process. However, the combined annual revenues of these subsidiaries fell short of the PKR 200 billion criteria, leading to Gerry’s International’s disqualification from the pre-qualification stage.

This clarification addresses misconceptions and reaffirms the transparency and criteria-based selection process undertaken by the Privatisation Commission in the privatization efforts of PIA.
