Gilani Calls for Parliamentary Unity to Address Global Challenges

Islamabad: Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has called for greater parliamentary unity and collective action to address global challenges, including armed conflicts, terrorism, climate change, and economic inequality. He stated this while addressing the inaugural session of the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

According to Radio Pakistan, Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy must transition from commitment to action, dialogue to delivery, and promises to results. During his speech, Gilani proposed that the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) develop mechanisms for rapid parliamentary responses to emerging crises and strengthen adherence to international law as the foundation for peace and stability.

In his address, Gilani highlighted the importance of creating a united front among global parliamentary bodies to effectively tackle the daunting challenges facing the world today. He underscored the need for collaborative efforts and shared responsibilities to ensure that parliamentary actions result in tangible outcomes on the international stage.
