Gilani Reaffirms Islamabad’s Commitment to Deeper Cooperation with Canberra

Islamabad: High Commissioner of Australia to Pakistan, Timothy Kane, called on Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at Parliament House in Islamabad today. During the meeting, the Chairman Senate expressed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Australia, highlighting the goodwill that Australia enjoys in Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, Gilani appreciated Australia’s longstanding support in the education sector, noting that approximately 20,000 Pakistani students are currently pursuing higher studies in Australian universities. He emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to strengthen economic engagement between the two nations.

Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani also stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and called for stronger inter-parliamentary linkages. The Australian High Commissioner remarked that both countries enjoy a long and deep relationship, reflecting the enduring bilateral ties between Pakistan and Australia.
