Gilgit-Shandur Road Completely Restored for All Types of Traffic

Islamabad: Gilgit-Shandur road has been completely restored for all types of traffic, following the blockade of road due to massive land sliding and heavy rains.

According to Radio Pakistan, a spokesperson of the National Highway Authority said the road has been reopened after emergency teams successfully constructed an alternate route at Yangal in Ghizer District, where a bridge was swept away due to floodwaters.

He said clearance work has been completed at Knat Bridge and debris has been removed from the bridge.

Similarly, backfilling using stone dumping is currently underway at Ansar Camp Bridge, while water flow has been diverted to one side and upstream excavation has started at Sassi Bridge at Hanochal area.
