Government Advances Energy Sector Reforms with SIFC Support

Islamabad: The government is advancing its initiatives to enhance the energy sector, focusing on the privatization of key power distribution companies. With assistance from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), efforts are underway to address ongoing challenges in the sector.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, notable progress has been achieved in the privatization of the three top-performing power distribution companies. The government has resolved to give a central role to the SIFC to accelerate the privatization process of these companies.

Initially, the privatization efforts will target power distribution companies in Islamabad, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad. A steering committee has been established to ensure the success of this privatization initiative, marking a significant step in the government’s strategy to reform and develop the energy sector.
