Government Expands Irrigation Projects in Balochistan to Boost Agriculture

Quetta: The Balochistan government has intensified its efforts to enhance the irrigation sector, with the goal of cultivating more barren land in the region. Several pivotal projects are currently underway, aiming to improve water availability and agricultural output.

According to Radio Pakistan, key initiatives include the construction of Bolan Dam, Thangi Dam in Awaran, Sura Khula Dam in Quetta, and Sansrani Dam in Gwadar. These projects are expected to significantly enhance the groundwater table, facilitating better irrigation.

Additionally, in collaboration with the Federal Government, the construction of Gruge Dam in Kharan, Basmol Dam in Gwadar, Windar Dam in Lesbela, and Panjgure Dam is in progress. These projects are part of a broader strategy to address water scarcity issues plaguing the province, thereby supporting agricultural development and sustainability.
