Government Implements Reforms to Enhance Power Sector Efficiency

Islamabad: Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari announced that the government has introduced several reforms aimed at improving the efficiency of the power sector. He made these remarks during an event organized by the Pakistan Business Council in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister detailed that the reforms include the introduction of a competitive energy market, the de-politicization of the power sector, effective management of circular debt, and re-negotiations on terms and conditions with Independent Power Producers (IPPs). He noted that these reforms have resulted in positive and encouraging outcomes for the sector.

Additionally, the Minister emphasized that the government is actively pursuing clean and renewable energy projects, focusing on hydel and solar energy sources.
