Government Initiatives for Poverty Alleviation Highlighted by PM on International Charity Day

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to global solidarity on International Charity Day, underscoring the crucial role of donations, charity, and social welfare in promoting harmony.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister noted Pakistan’s proud history of selfless assistance extended by its citizens, regardless of religion, creed, or color. He described the sincere passion for serving others as integral to the nation’s social and cultural values.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the contributions of national volunteers who have consistently provided significant practical and financial support during calamities, natural disasters, wars, and other emergencies. He praised the country’s philanthropists for their generous services, including free treatment, meals, and ambulance services funded through donations.

The Prime Minister also detailed government efforts in poverty alleviation, mentioning several key programs such as the Benazir Income Support Program, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Zakat, Employees Old Age Benefit Institution, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, and the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority.

He urged Pakistanis worldwide to contribute to relief and rehabilitation efforts in flood-affected regions, reinforcing the collective responsibility toward societal welfare.
