Government Inks Landmark Agreement for Dhabeji Special Economic Zone

Karachi: The government has successfully signed an agreement with both Chinese and local investors to establish the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone in Thatta. This development marks a significant progression in the economic collaboration between Pakistan and China as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to Radio Pakistan, the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone will be developed under a Public-Private Partnership model in the second phase of CPEC. Its strategic location near Karachi’s ports offers exceptional connectivity to global trade routes, making it an attractive site for business operations.

The establishment of this special economic zone is expected to serve as a major hub for both local and international investors, drawing in an estimated investment of three billion dollars. It is projected to create over one hundred thousand jobs, providing a substantial boost to the local economy.

Chinese businesses have shown a keen interest in expanding their operations within the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone. This agreement is viewed as a pivotal milestone in fostering industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China, contributing significantly to the revival of the national economy.
