Government Launches ‘Recharge Pakistan Programme’ to Combat Climate Change

Islamabad: The Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the pressing challenges posed by climate change during the launch of the “Recharge Pakistan Programme” today.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Alam highlighted the immediate threats of climate change, mentioning the severe impact of the 2022 floods as a wake-up call for the nation. She detailed how the Recharge Pakistan initiative aims to enhance the resilience of vulnerable communities, poised to directly benefit over six hundred thousand people by bolstering their capacity to cope with environmental changes.

Additionally, Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik, speaking at the same event, advocated for global cooperation to effectively tackle climate change. He underscored the importance of coordinated international efforts to mitigate its detrimental effects and protect ecosystems and economies alike.

The launch marks a significant step forward in Pakistan’s environmental strategy, aiming to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change through proactive and community-focused actions.
