Government Seals Deal for Dhabeji Special Economic Zone

Karachi: The government has entered into an agreement with Chinese and local investors to develop the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone in Thatta, aiming to boost economic activity through substantial investments and job creation.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone will be realized under a Public-Private Partnership model as part of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The project’s strategic location near Karachi’s ports is expected to enhance connectivity to global trade routes, making it an attractive site for investment.

The zone is anticipated to draw three billion dollars in investments and generate over one hundred thousand jobs, serving as a significant industrial hub for both domestic and international investors. Chinese companies, in particular, have shown keen interest in expanding their operations within the economic zone.

This agreement marks a key milestone in the industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China, with potential benefits for the national economy.
