Government Seeks Broad Consensus on Judicial Reform Package

Islamabad: The Pakistani government is actively consulting with various stakeholders to build a broad consensus on a new constitutional package focusing on judicial reforms, as stated by the Adviser on Legal Affairs, Barrister Aqeel Malik. During a news conference held today, Malik emphasized the involvement of bar associations and councils in the discussions, underlining the non-partisan nature of the judicial reforms proposed.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Barrister Malik highlighted the collective agreement among political parties regarding the need for judicial reforms. He stressed that the reforms should not be politicized, as the primary aim is to enhance the judicial system to ensure swift justice for the public.

Malik also noted that it is within the parliament’s rights to pass this legislation, signaling the government’s commitment to legal and judicial improvements through proper legislative channels. The initiative seeks to engage a wide range of opinions to forge a strong and enduring consensus that could lead to significant changes in the country’s judicial landscape.
