Govt Abolishes Free Electricity Units Facility for Power Sector Employees

Lahore: The government has abolished the free electricity units facility for power sector employees. In a post on X handle, Minister for Power Awais Leghari announced that, for the first time in the country’s history, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the free electricity units for power sector staff have been terminated.

According to Radio Pakistan, Awais Leghari stated that the Lahore High Court accepted the Power Division’s petition concerning this matter. He emphasized that ending the provision of free electricity units was a long-standing demand from the public.

Awais Leghari further mentioned that the government is committed to taking every necessary step for the collective betterment of the country.
