Govt Aims for Economic Recovery Through Structural Reforms: Aurangzeb

Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has emphasized that the government is committed to implementing structural reforms and promoting private sector-led growth as part of its strategy for sustainable economic recovery. He made these remarks while meeting with the newly appointed High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan, Tarik Ali Khan, in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister welcomed the High Commissioner and provided insights into Pakistan’s recent economic performance and reform initiatives. He highlighted that the country’s macroeconomic indicators have improved significantly, with inflation under control and fiscal discipline maintained. Aurangzeb pointed out that Canadian participation in projects such as the Reko Diq mine illustrates the potential for stronger economic ties between Pakistan and Canada.

The Finance Minister extended an invitation for Canadian investment in Pakistan’s renewable energy, mining, and technology sectors. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing formal remittance channels from the Pakistani diaspora in Canada.

During the meeting, Tarik Ali Khan noted that Canada is focusing on infrastructure and energy expansion, including LNG and critical minerals development, and sees potential collaboration opportunities with Pakistan in these areas. He also expressed Canada’s interest in supporting Pakistan’s efforts towards a green transition and climate resilience.
