Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has reaffirmed the government’s resolve to continue national efforts until poliovirus transmission is completely stopped. Chairing a meeting of the Prime Minister’s Committee on the National Taskforce for Polio Eradication, he emphasized that polio eradication is a national responsibility directly linked to the health, dignity, and future of Pakistan’s children.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal urged religious scholars, community leaders, and opinion-makers to counter misinformation and strengthen public confidence in vaccination. The meeting highlighted that Pakistan has recorded a significant decline in polio cases, from thirty-one in 2025 to four in 2026. Additionally, positivity in environmental surveillance samples has fallen below ten percent.
The government remains focused on collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that every child in Pakistan receives the polio vaccine. The commitment to eradication efforts reflects a broader dedication to improving public health and securing a polio-free future for the nation’s children.
