Govt Committed to Enhancing Electricity Transmission, Says PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that the government is fully focused on improving the electricity transmission system. Chairing a meeting of a Working Group on the Power Sector in Islamabad, he emphasized that efforts are being made to ensure that industries receive electricity at regionally competitive rates.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif commended the efforts and hard work of the Energy Committee, led by Shehzad Saleem, for engaging in consultations with the private sector. During the meeting, recommendations regarding reforms in the energy sector aimed at economic development were presented.

The Prime Minister instructed the Power Division to present recommendations, in consultation with stakeholders, to adjust electricity wheeling charges to an appropriate level. He further mentioned that a National Program for Economic Development will be developed once the recommendations of various sectoral working groups are finalized.

The meeting also covered proposals related to tariff structures, challenges in electricity transmission, appropriate pricing, and other energy-related matters. Additionally, recommendations were made to enhance the reliability of the electricity transmission and voltage system.
