Govt Establishes Commission for Journalists’ Safety

Islamabad: The federal government has constituted an independent commission for protection of journalists and media professionals under section 12 of the Protection of Journalists and Media Professionals Act, 2021.

According to Radio Pakistan, a notification issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting details that the commission will exercise powers and perform functions as prescribed under the Act.

The members of the commission include the PIO Ministry of Information, Director General HR from the Ministry of Human Rights, and representative members from journalist unions of the federal capital, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.
