Govt Implements Comprehensive Strategy to Eradicate Polio: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to completely eradicate polio from the country. During a meeting with Dr. Chris Elias, President Global Development Gates Foundation, in Islamabad, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing a comprehensive strategy and taking practical actions with an effective team.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep gratitude for the collaboration of Bill Gates and Saudi Arabia in the fight against polio. He acknowledged that despite significant progress, emergency measures are still necessary to ensure the complete eradication of the disease.

The Prime Minister stated that the federal government is working in full coordination with the provinces to maximize the accessibility of polio teams throughout the nation under an effective strategy. He highlighted that relevant projects under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the polio eradication campaign will continue across the country.

President Global Development Gates Foundation Chris Elias appreciated the Prime Minister’s personal attention to polio eradication and the effective measures being implemented. He recognized that Pakistan is taking effective steps toward complete polio eradication, which are progressing toward success. Elias emphasized the importance of continued constructive consultation with federal, provincial governments, and relevant institutions on polio eradication.
