Govt: orders inquiry for misbehaving with MBBS Part-I girl student

Peshawar, December 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Culture Shah Farman on Friday took strong notice of the incident of preventing first year female student of KMC Peshawar from wearing Hijab and then on denial misbehaving by a professor Rahim Bangash of the college.

When the Minister was informed about the incident that took place on Thursday, he went to KMC Peshawar early in the morning on Friday and took details of happening from Principal KMC Prof. Ejaz Hassan Khan, college administration and students.

He directed the college administration to investigate the incident immediately. Principal Prof. Ejaz Hassan Khan informed the minister that after the incident, the alleged professor had been suspended by Chief Executive KTH and an eight members high level inquiry committee consisting of Professors of medical college and Islamic scholars had been constituted under the chairmanship of Prof. Liaqat Ali.

The committee has been asked to present its recommendations after completing the inquiry. He informed the minister that the committee had recorded the statement of the girl student but the alleged professor could not be contacted due to closure of his mobile. He said soon the committee would contact and record the statement of alleged professor and if found guilty, departmental action would be taken against him.

The Minister directed the inquiry committee as well as college administration to do quick and impartial investigation of the incident fulfilling all the requirements of justice. He advised the students who were making protest on the occasion, to remain calm however he said peaceful protest was their right. Shah Farman also met the affected female student and her parents and expressed his deep regret over the incident.

He assured them that they would be provided justice and exemplary punishment would be given to the professor if found guilty by the inquiry committee. The Minister as a gesture of sympathy presented veil (Hijab) to the female student. The girl student and her parents thanked the provincial government for taking immediate action against the incident.
