Govt plans to set up water treatment plants around Karachi Port: Ali Zaidi

Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi has said the federal government has a plan to set up water treatment plants around Karachi Port and supply it to the industry.

In an interview, he said a large water treatment plant and many small ones would be installed in Karachi under a phase-wise programme by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, which would help control dumping of industrial refuse in the sea.

He said a large number of national and international companies have shown their interest to invest in such projects and consultations are under way regarding the expansion of Karachi Port.
