Govt Prioritizes IT and AI for Economic Development: PM

Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed the government’s commitment to advancing Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence on a priority basis. Presiding over a meeting in Lahore focused on the promotion of Artificial Intelligence, he emphasized the significant role these technologies play in the development of the national economy.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted that the implementation of a digital economy will be significantly enhanced through Artificial Intelligence, and the national policy on Artificial Intelligence will be executed efficiently. He stressed the importance of focusing on data protection, data sovereignty, and the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence as part of its execution.

The Prime Minister also directed the formation of a steering committee to oversee the promotion and implementation of Artificial Intelligence. The meeting included a briefing on government initiatives regarding Artificial Intelligence, where it was disclosed that an AI Advisory Panel comprising experts is being established to facilitate the implementation of Artificial Intelligence.
