Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Journalistic Freedom and Expression

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has extended his congratulations to the newly elected office bearers of the Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ). He emphasized the government’s steadfast commitment to protecting freedom of expression and ensuring the independence of journalism.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister highlighted the crucial role media organizations play in promoting democratic values and safeguarding independent journalism. He assured continued support for the welfare of the journalist community and the capacity building of media professionals. The Minister expressed optimism that the new RIUJ leadership would effectively protect journalists’ rights and strengthen the organization.

Secretary Information Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil and Principal Information Officer Mobashir Hassan also extended their congratulations to the newly elected RIUJ body. The elected officials include Asif Bashir Chaudhry as President, Bashir Usmani as General Secretary, Izhar Khan Niazi as Finance Secretary, Tauseef Abbasi and Rashid Malik as Vice Presidents, and Raja Imran Janjua along with Rana Farhan Aslam as Joint Secretaries.
