Gwadar Fisheries Director General Vows to Combat Illegal Trawling and Enhance Marine Protection

Gwadar: Director General of Fisheries Imran Bangalzai convened with fishermen delegations from Gwadar and Jiwani to address the pressing challenges in marine resource management, particularly the pervasive issue of illegal trawling. The meeting aimed to strengthen enforcement and safeguard Balochistan’s marine ecosystems.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Bangalzai detailed new initiatives during the discussions, including the acquisition of additional boats to boost the department’s patrolling capabilities and the enforcement of fishing regulations. He assured the fishermen that a 24/7 complaint cell is operational to address any incidences of illegal trawling swiftly.

Efforts to intensify patrolling, especially during nighttime to curb illegal activities at sea, were highlighted as a priority. Bangalzai committed to regular engagements with the fishing communities to directly address their concerns and enhance the department’s responsiveness and effectiveness in managing marine resources.
