Haryana Farmers Pledge to Block Former CM Khattar’s Lok Sabha Bid

Chandigarh, In a significant political standoff, Sikh farmers in Haryana’s Karnal parliamentary constituency have vowed to block former Chief Minister and BJP candidate Manohar Lal Khattar from entering the Lok Sabha, reflecting deep-seated grievances over the handling of the farm agitation.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the opposition among the farmers stems from their dissatisfaction with the BJP’s approach during the previous farm protests, which they claim led to several farmer deaths. The farmers, particularly from the Sikh community, have expressed their intent to prevent Khattar from entering their villages and campaigning. With the Lok Sabha elections set for May 25, the confrontation is poised to escalate between Khattar and his main opponent, Congress candidate Divyanshu Budhiraja.

Local farmers like Tehal Singh Virk from Sheikhupura and Gurbachan Singh from Ratak have openly declared their plans to actively protest against Khattar’s candidacy. Their strong opposition is part of a broader wave of resistance within the agricultural community against the BJP, highlighting a crucial electoral challenge for the former Chief Minister.
