Jammu: Farooq Abdullah, the president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, has voiced concerns over internal threats to India, primarily attributed to the rise of Hindutva in recent years.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Abdullah addressed party workers at the National Conference office in Jammu, dismissing claims that Hindus face threats in India. He questioned the credibility of such claims, given that Hindus constitute 80% of the population, suggesting that these narratives are intended to instill fear among citizens.
Abdullah also criticized the aftermath of the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, stating that job opportunities in Jammu are increasingly being allocated to non-locals. He argued that Article 370 was designed to safeguard the interests of the people of Kashmir and the Dogra community, yet the current situation favors outsiders.
Furthermore, Abdullah held the People’s Democratic Party accountable for the abrogation of Article 370. He mentioned advising Mufti Saeed against forming an alliance with the BJP, advice that was ultimately disregarded.
