Housing Minister orders handing over of G-11 apartments to allottees

Islamabad, December 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): Minister of State for Housing and Works, Barrister Usman Ibrahim here on Thursday chaired a high level meeting of Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) Board of Directors (BoD).

As Chairman of BoD, the Minister appreciated PHA’s expeditious completion of G-11 apartments which are now ready to be handed over to allottees. The meeting was apprised that all necessary work has been completed in this sector, as the main road is ready, lights have been installed and the whole infrastructure development has been carried out.

The Minister directed the concerned officials to work on remaining formalities and with proper advertisement; these 203 C- type apartments of G-11 be handed over to allottees after receipt of pending payments.

The Minister expressed serious concern over the project payments to contractors without obtaining approval from the Board. He said that no other payment will be made to any contractor in future for any project without placing it before Board of Directors and seeking approval of the Chairman.

The Minister further directed to constitute a committee to scrutinize all financial matters of PHA which were not streamlined in the past. The Minister expressed his deep concern that since 1999 the finance department of PHA had never prepared its balance sheet. The Minister directed the concerned officers to prepare complete balance sheets of previous years and present it in the next Board meeting.

The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary, Director General Pak-PWD, Director General National Construction Limited (NCL), Director General Federal Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF), Financial Advisor, and other board members.
