HR situation in IOK deteriorated post Aug 05 move: Khurram Parvez

Srinagar, July 25, 2020 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, prominent human rights defender, Khurram Parvez, has said that the human rights situation has deteriorated in the territory since Modi government’s illegal actions of August 05, last year.

Khurram Parvez in an interview in Srinagar pointed out that all civil and political rights of people completely stand curbed and only those affiliated to the ruling BJP can speak or organize political activity. Others, even if they are pro-India parties, continue to be gagged and that encounters, arrests and torture continue unabated, he said.

Khurram Parvez said the BJP had claimed that the human rights situation will improve in occupied Kashmir post the abrogation of Article 370, but the Kashmiri people see that this is not at all a priority for the Modi government.
