Hundreds including Hurriyat leaders arrested in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, December 22, 2020 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian authorities arrested hundreds of Hurriyat leaders, human rights activist and youth during massive crackdown operations in length and breadth of the territory.

The authorities during the house raids arrested APHC leader, Gulam Ahmad Gulzar, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Abdul Rasheed Lone, JKLF leader Muhammad Yasin Butt, human rights activist Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Farooq Ahmad Khakhi and several others in Srinagar and other areas.

The All Parties Hurriyat conference spokesman in a statement while denouncing the house raids, arrests and harassment of inmates said that such brutal acts of Indian government would face defeat in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that Kashmiris’ stand and commitment with the just cause is strong and they will continue their freedom struggle against all odds. He said that youths were arrested on false charges to create an atmosphere of fear and terror in the territory.

The statement urged International community to take notice of worsening rights situation in occupied Kashmir and resolve Kashmir dispute as per United Nations resolutions and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The spokesman said that Indian rulers had given a free licence to the occupying forces to wage an open war on innocent people. He added that oppression, torture and killings have now become a hobby of Indian troops.

The APHC spokesman said that the arrests and harassment of the people were not going to benefit the occupying rulers. He said that India has not gained anything till date from bullying, oppression, violence, raids, sieges, vandalism and arrests and will not get anything in future as well.

Senior Hurriyat leader, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori in a statement denounced the arrest of Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Molvi Bashir Ahmad and other Hurriyat leaders and demanded their immediate release.
