Hydropower Projects Among Govt’s Top Development Priorities: PM Shehbaz Sharif

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that ministries demonstrating superior performance will be prioritized in the allocation of funds for development projects. He made this statement while presiding over a meeting in Islamabad to assess the current year’s development budget and the proposed Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the upcoming fiscal year.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister stressed that public funds will be invested solely in projects that guarantee results. Highlighting the government’s development priorities, he stated that water reservoirs and hydropower projects will receive top consideration. Projects aimed at enhancing water storage capacity are set to be favored in the allocation of resources.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister advocated for maximizing public-private partnerships in development initiatives. He expressed appreciation for Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb for the successful issuance of Panda Bonds and their positive reception in the financial markets. Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif commended the ministries of Railways, Information Technology, and Power for their commendable performance.

During the meeting, a review of the current year’s PSDP and the proposed development projects requiring funds for the next financial year was presented. Updates were also shared regarding the progress of major national water storage and hydropower projects, including the Dasu Dam, Diamer-Bhasha Dam, and Mohmand Dam.
