IED Attack in Swat Kills Police Officer, Injures Three Amid Diplomatic Convoy

Islamabad: An improvised explosive device (IED) attack targeting a police scout vehicle in Swat resulted in the death of a police officer and injuries to three others. The incident occurred as the vehicle was escorting a group of diplomats returning to Islamabad from a trip to Malam Jabba and Swat. Despite the attack, all diplomats were safely evacuated and returned to the capital.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Foreign Office has expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased officer, who has been honored as Shaheed, a term used for martyrs in Pakistan. The Foreign Office also confirmed that the three injured personnel are receiving necessary medical attention.

The Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s resolve in the face of such acts of terror, stating that these attempts to undermine the country’s security will not deter its ongoing commitment to combat terrorism. This incident underscores the persistent threats faced by law enforcement agencies in Pakistan and the government’s continued efforts to protect diplomatic visitors and its own citizens.
