IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Outlines Strategic Enhancements for Anti-Riot Force and Border Security

Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has announced a comprehensive plan to reorganize the Anti-Riot Force and bolster security at inter-provincial border checkpoints. The initiative, directed by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, aims to address violent activities and increasing terrorist threats effectively.

According to Punjab Police, Dr. Anwar instructed the heads of police training institutions to ensure that all personnel receive Anti-Riot Force training. He emphasized the need for state-of-the-art equipment, including bulletproof vehicles, drones, and modern weapons, to reinforce the defense systems at border checkpoints. The IG also confirmed that departmental promotions would proceed based on merit and seniority.

During a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office, Dr. Anwar reviewed ongoing projects, equipment procurement, and administrative issues. Discussions also covered welfare improvements for injured officers and personnel, as well as recruitment and training plans for constables under the Punjab Enforcement Regulator Authority (PERA). The meeting included senior police officers and representatives from various regions and departments, with some participating via video link.
