IIOJK Advisor Criticizes India’s Approach to Statehood Restoration

Srinagar: Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has asserted that the restoration of statehood is a fundamental right and not a privilege bestowed by the Indian government.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Wani made these remarks during a visit to Kupwara district, where he criticized the Indian government’s commitment to democratic principles in the region. He highlighted statehood as a “rightful entitlement” for the residents of the occupied territory and pointed out that despite repeated assurances from the Indian Prime Minister and Home Minister about statehood restoration in Parliament, no substantial progress has been made. Nearly four years have passed since the revocation of Article 370, yet concrete measures for statehood restoration remain absent.
