IMF Programme to Promote Economic Growth: President

Islamabad: A delegation of the International Monetary Fund led by Jihad Azour called on President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, and senior officials were also present on the occasion.

According to Radio Pakistan, during the meeting, views were exchanged on the overall economic situation of the country and the ongoing IMF programme. The President commended the IMF programme for bringing economic stability to Pakistan. He emphasized that the programme would further promote economic growth in the country. He acknowledged that the IMF plays a key role in fostering economic development in emerging economies and appreciated the IMF’s role in Pakistan’s economic progress.

The delegation expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s economic reforms and the IMF programme. It stated that the IMF Pakistan programme is progressing in the right direction.
