IMO Secretary General Arrives in Islamabad for Maritime Conference

Islamabad: Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Antonio Dominguez Velasco, is set to arrive in Islamabad today for a notable three-day visit. The primary purpose of his visit is to participate in the “International Maritime Sustainability Exhibition and Conference,” which also commences today in the city.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the exhibition, themed “Navigating the Future: Safety First,” aims to highlight and promote sustainability within the maritime sector. Following the initial events in Islamabad, the exhibition will continue in Karachi until Saturday.

This visit marks the first ever by an IMO Secretary General to Pakistan, signifying a significant opportunity for both Pakistan and the IMO to discuss and exchange views on the maritime sector and the blue economy. The engagement is expected to foster deeper cooperation and understanding between Pakistan and the international maritime community.
